Havel's Set is an Armor in Dark Souls 3.
Armor as if hewn from a giant boulder. Highly protective, but excessively heavy.
The warriors who followed Havel the Rock never flinched, nor retreated from battle, crushing any foe that stood in their way.
Location/Where to Find
- In Farron Keep on the bridge above the Old Wolf of Farron bonfire where the Stray Demon spawns, only after you defeat the Havel Knight that is located in Archdragon Peak. He is located shortly after the last bonfire of the area, next to the corpse of a wyvern. (This is not to be confused with the Havel Knight that is spawned by the Man-Serpent Summoners)
Notes and Tips
- Some of the outright heaviest armor in the game, second only to Smough's Set, with an underwhelming defense rating.
- Grants the highest fire resistance in the whole game if all the pieces are worn.
- Each piece can be sold to Shrine Handmaid for 500 souls.
- The total weight of Havel's set is 56.9.

It says that the set has only 50.1 poise? That's not right is it?

The overall armour rating is wrong, it's 40.6 not 35.3. The rest of the set stats probably need to be checked as well.
- Anonymous
The chest is the only thing worth wearing. If you want the highest absorption for heavy armors, use Havel's Armor, Harald Leggings, Morne's Helm, and Catarina Gauntlets.
- Anonymous
even with full havel and +3 wolf ring, you still get staggered by a dagger

It took me too long to realize, but this is dragonhide armor. Archdragons look like they're made of stone, look no further than the dragonhead shields. This set's highest elemental defense is fire, and lowest is lightning, just like dragons. Alternatively, perhaps titanite is fossilized dragon meat, and Havel's armor is made of solid titanite.
- Anonymous
I wish they kept Havels armor and shield being the best heavy armor magic defense.
- Anonymous
Handsome armor as it's always been, but criminally underpowered. Do not invest in VIT or use Havel's Ring just to wear this armor. The poise it gives is just not worth the absurd weight and often also means compromising absorption. If you run any "optimal armor" calculator, not a single piece of Havel's armor will ever appear. It's for fashion and/or SL802 silliness.

Love this set, however.... cosplaying havel is much more enjoyable at SL 150 and above. At 120 you have to go kinda low on everything except VIT. It takes a lot if you hate fat rolling that much, which havel doesn't do himself, so it feels required to get bellow the 70% threshold. 120 builds using the set for the poise is crazy fun, you'll out trade almost anything. Personally, I like to trade the shield and tooth for GCS and the greatsword. Then I can rock much more strength and vigor. Poise works in this game, it's just ds3 poise. Not iron flesh ds1 poise. There's some great content that explains in depth how poise functions in this game on youtube. I recommend looking it up too, that way you can take full advantage of this set instead of regurgitating the same ignorant phrase "poise is broken", it isn't. It's working as intended. (Intended to be trash compared to ds1 that is)

after getting 45 vit, ring of favour +3, havel ring 2+ and prisoners chain, i can now wear full havel while holding only gundyr's halberd and not fat roll at all
- Anonymous
Let me get this straight...
This armor requires a LOT of Vitaliy, and doesn't give you that much in return? Sure, nice stats and everything, but weight doesn't really justify it
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Why is everyone wearing this armor complete trash or a hanker or both? It may have the best stats in the game but that doesn’t make you invincible homie.

Yesterday, I was invading an overlevelled gank squad on Archdragon Peak.
I had the entire Havel's set but the helmet on, and felt pretty safe.
Suddenly the host lept forward, and took with two swigs of his Old Wolf Curved Sword
more than 90% OF MY HEALTH!!!!
Dafuq?!?
66 Vitality for nothing!

Answering to one of the people who commented their Havel's build here but also decided to post this so everyone could see it. No hate please lol
I mean, you could go for a fat roll (yeah, I know, not cool), but that way you can save LITERALLY 37 level points. You could get your your ST to 66 with that and have two handed strike from Dragon's Tooth at almost 800 AR, or you could go for literally any other attributes to make a more versatile guy or just dump everything in VG. Therefore I propose the next build: SL 120 Full Havel's Set + Dragon's Tooth + Havel's Greatshield VGR: 39 ATN: 10 END: 14 STR: 66 DEX: 12 INT: 10 FTH: 10 LCK: 7 Rings: Havel's +3, Favor +3, PC +3, Life Ring +3 You got 1909 HP kindled, ~800 AR two-handed with Power Within. Yeah, only 120 stamina, but that's more then enough to hit the enemy 3 times with an R1 or twice with a charged R2 which should kill most if not all enemies in a single combo combo. You could also go for even lower endurance since Dragon's Tooth is so slow you most likely wont be able to do even one charged R2 in an actual fight, so as long as you have more than 83 stamina for 3 R1 hits you should be fine (one R1 hit takes away 42 stamina, and as long as you got at least one stamina you can hit an enemy). The lowest stamina you could get in the game with this build at this SL is 114 if you start as a deprived and 116 if you start as a knight, and stamina shouldn't be a problem if you manage it well. Sound's like a pretty reasonable build to me if you REALLY want to cosplay Havel's that much and you don't want to sacrifice 37 (!!!!!) levels for a medium roll

This set in ds1/2: Havel the Rock
This set in ds3: Harvey the pebble

Looks dumb in DEX/magic builds. Idk, imo it looks better with bigger weapons.

I decided to do some quick tests, as I was certain that heavy armor was not worth it in DS3 thanks to diminishing returns.
I brought a sl 134 character with 161 flat defense against physical to Untended Graves, and allowed them to be hit by the same attack (charging thrust from a Gs Black Knight) and then recorded the numbers. I decided to compare Havel's to a rather *standard* set: the Hard Leather set. Looking at the base stats, Havel's is 3x the weight, but only has ~34% thrust vs. the Hard Leather's ~20%, meaning there is only a 14% difference (already not even twice the stats for triple the weight). I'll also be adding the Steel+3 ring in, both as an alternative to Havel's and for the sake of more data. The Hard Leather Set now has ~33% against thrust, while Havel's has ~45%, meaning that the Hard Leather with the ring already almost matches it, and the difference has gone down to only 12%. But how about some field data? As we all know some quick calcs aren't as useful as direct tests. Well, even here Havel's is still a massive disappointment. For starters, my 31 vit character had to wear Favor and Havel's rings (both +3) and then carry no weapons just to mid-roll. Then I tested the difference in damage from the attack. Let's go over how it stacked up.
Hard Leather & no Steel+3: 446 Damage
Hard Leather & Steel+3: 370 damage
Difference: 76 damage (-19% damage)
Havel's & No Steel+3: 369 (nice) damage
Havel's & Steel+3: 306 damage
Difference: 63 damage (-17% damage)
As you can see from these tests, the benefits of wearing just this one ring are nearly identical to wearing full Havel's when we're wearing a pretty standard set of armor. You only need to sacrifice one of your 4 slots to accomplish this, it weighs far less, and you can have the freedom of fashion, which is always more important.
TL;DR: Heavy armor is not worth it in DS3, rings and buffs are far less demanding and just as effective. Poise is also still dead lol.

the total physical absorption of the armor under the picture of the havel's set is wrong. It says 35.3, but in reality it's 40.6.

Has anyone in these comments heard of Astora's Greatsword? At +10 with sharp infusion (S dex scaling) you're doing 500+ damage with a whopping 8 lb sword. Smack a crest shield on the other arm and you've got your heavy build. Still on my first play through EVER and I figured this out, and have been rocking the heaviest armor available (poise-wise) for the whole game, never struggling too bad to maintain a good roll. Maybe it's my experience with the other souls games, but this seems like basic ****. You don't rock Havel's with FUGS or something stupid like that, it's a waste of levels. Dex works better all round, since on top of being able to be a poise monster, you can cheese plenty of fools with a bow.

Useless; poise doesn't work and it has a low defense rating

Awful defense-to-weight ratio, especially compared to Exile and Gundyr which are much lighter but very close in stats... Still, Havel pants best pants.
Visually my fav armor in DS3 is Havel's pants & gauntlets plus Gundyr's chestpiece. Sweet helmet choices are Faraam, Wolf's, Dancer, Exile, Outrider and basically anything that matches either the bright metal or blue skirt.
I'm about to whoop that astora greatsword bots ass if it comments again.

Use Astora's Greatsword with sharp infusion, giving S scaling in dex. At +10 I'm doing over 500 dmg with a whopping 8 lb sword. Combine with crest shield and a bow and there's your heavy build. I've used the heaviest armor available at any given time and always maintained a medium roll without much difficulty.
This is something I discovered on my own on my first play through EVER, so I think people in this comment section lack common sense. When I get havels set, y'all better watch out.

This is Fake Havel's. Havel knights, you could only make dents in their armor. This must be a chinese knock-off.

if you're thinking about doing a tank character, then i would strongly recommend using this combo: Full Havel Set, Life Ring+3, Ring of Favor+3, Prisoner's Chain, and Ring of Steel Protection+3 (to negate the absorption penalty from the Prisoner's Chain)

It's pretty disappointing that this armour set has such little increase in defense compared to the other heavy armour sets despite it's much higher weight. For comparison's sake, the Exile set has marginally less defense overall compared to Havel's set, but weighs far less and can be acquired much earlier in the game.

god I miss ds1 poise. getting a heavy armor build online took allot more time but it felt earned vs a dex builds that litteraly come online the second the game starts.

Too heavy, I wear Gundyr's Set, only receiving moderately worse ratings in strike and a bit lower in Thrust - Using up only 40 equipment load, much less, compared to Havel. Smough's Set is even worse. Nice gimmick, but without the option to reinforce armor, there's literally no point to use Havel anymore. The poise gained doesn't do***** either in DS3...by far not enough to justify using Havel's Set, when Havel's Ring is a mere shade of its former self as well. Rip heavy loads.
- Anonymous
Mid roll with the complete set plus the weapon and shield and NO rings, cannot be done even with 99 VIT. With Havel's ring +3, Ring of Favor +3 and Prisoner's chain, you need 77 VIT for exactly 70% load (78 VIT if you want to wear a 4th ring, I recomment Chloranthy +3, you're gonna need it) That's just to carry everything, to wield the weapon/shield you need 40 STR.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
You need 46 vitality to equip the full set / weapon / shield and the +3 rings to stay under 100%.
- Anonymous
At lvl 100, (with full Havels Set, and Havels Greatshield, and Dragon Tooth)......with Ring Of Favor+3, Prisoners Chain and Havels Ring+3, you have exactly 100% encumbrance. (Meaning you can still roll and run.)

*Makes poise only useful for great weapons* *Max poise set too heavy to use with great weapons* Well done, Miyazaki.

In order to utilize the full Havel Set, Including the Shield and Tooth, you need 78 Vitality. 78. With Havel's+3, Fap+3, and Gundyr's. At least 79 to be able to use Caestus for parrys/quick attacks.

***** me, the only person I bothered to kill him on was my sorcerer and I never picked up the set before going to NG+. Oh well, it's a*****ty set, to be honest. Way too heavy to roll in without stacking all your points in vitality AND wearing DLC Havel's Ring and it doesn't even offer damage protection that justifies the investment. Maybe I'll make a beefy character with Gundyr's set. I want a strength character with a heavy set who can roll. For PvE, obviously, though not sucking in PvP is a plus.

I personally think this armor is made from the stray demon somewhat. Think about it, you get it from that area and transpose havel’s ring from it. Also it it hewn out of some rock, which is very similar to the demon. Facts aside think of how badass it is to carve armor out of a petrified demon.

I liked the DS2 version so much more, the pauldrons in 1 and 3 are just layered up on the armor in a really ugly way. You can call realism all you want, this is rock armor. Make it look cool, not realistic.

Warrior class @SL120: 40/40/46/40 (VIG/END/VIT/STR), with the obvious +3 rings. Havel's set, weapon and shield: 99,9% weight PERFECT and fun!

I wear his chest piece and legs only and if i equip the gauntlets my equip load is 71.2% granted i use fume to so that plays a huge role, but with havels ring+3 and rimg of favor plus +3 my vitality is at 51 and its still pretty bad weight. I mean if your weapons heavy it seems to just make it that much worse, but wearing the chest and legs still isnt so bad. Still looks bad ass if you use the ragged face mask and no gauntlets i think. To each thier own though.
- Anonymous
Ok, so now with Havel's Ring+3 and Ring of Favor+3, how much vitality do you only need now to wear the set?
- Anonymous
In dark souls III, the Helmet is heavier, the chestplate is heavier, the gauntlets are lighter (as they should be, they used to be 11ish kilo's which is like... 25 pounds on the wrists... absurd) and now the leggings are heavier than the gauntlets (As they should be)
I total'd and calculated the weights for this set,
In darksouls II, it was a solid 50 Kilo's which is about 110ish pounds of Raw ROCC
In dark souls III, Havel desided to gain some more ROCC.... the armour NOW weighs 56.9 Kilo's... fuckin 'ell
i love the way this set looks
