Wolf Knight's Greatsword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3.

Greatsword of a knight tainted by the dark of the Abyss, and master of the wolf's blood of Farron.

The wolf knight was the first Abyss Watcher, and his sword is more punishing against creations of the abyss.

Skill: Wolf Sword
While in stance, use normal attack for a low spinning slash, or the strong attack to leap forward in a vertically-slashing somersault.

Notes and Tips:

  • Cannot be Buffed or Infused.
  • Reinforced with Titanite Scale.
  • Wolf Knight's Greatsword +5 has 523 AR at 40 Strength and 40 Dexterity.
  • Does 20% bonus damage against Abyssal enemies, including the following bosses:
  • The Greatsword of Knight Artorias, an important character and boss from the original Dark Souls.
  • The blade appears to be corrupted by the Abyss, having only one sharpened and uncorrupted side.
  • Unlike Dark Souls 2, wielding this weapon in your left hand does not grant a unique moveset.
  • Multiple weapons referencing Artorias, including this one, almost never refer to him as his real name. He is instead refered to as "wolf knight" or "abysswalker" which might hint that Artorias' name has long been forgotten.

I love how literally no one has discovered how great this sword is yet, i don't see any mention of it anywhere. The reach is god tier, the damage is great (especially the 1h thrust) and the WA are great for on reaction trading. I would honestly consider this a highest tier greatsword.

The fact that the unique move set of the sword wasn't granted to the player also reveals that everyone forgot how to use the sword, at least the way it was intended to be. Now add the fact that Artorias is never referred to as... well, Artorias.

... So yes, Artorias was really forgotten.

It would be great if there was the possibility to choose between the clean and corrupted version of this majestic greatsword. :-(

also before the DLC came out, many people assumed that the left handed knight on the original game package is Artorias for equipping his great sword and shield.

Hey did you guys know, if you go to Frelink shrine, go outside and to the left past the doggo, look on a grave and Artorias's sexy clean sword is laying against it. Only gopd callback in ds3.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why everyone claims hes left handed. In all of his concept art I have seen of him he his right handed. Did I miss something? Did the devs confirm he is left handed or is there something else I'm missing?

A great combo for this sword: backstab --> L2+R2 --> charged R2 --> R1 chain. Obviously requires a decent amount of stamina, but both backstab and L2+R2 flatten enemies, and charged R2 has high stagger in either 1- or 2-handed form. Coupled with the weapon's high AR, it's easy to wipe out tougher knight-type enemies in one combo, including Ringed Knights on NG+7. I honestly prefer this version over the Farron Greatsword, despite its flashy moveset and UGS status.

I don't know if this has been mentioned somewhere else, but in the game files there is both a "Wolf Knight's Greatsword" and a "Greatsword of Artorias", the only difference being that the Greatsword of Artorias (the one that isn't in the game) has a slightly lower damage rating compared to the one that's in the game. I'm going to assume that someone on reddit's posted about this before but I couldn't find anything so I thought I'd say it here.

I know I will not make much friends here by mentioning this but ...Link in "The Legend of Zelda - Twillight Princess"....could even transform into a wolf. What if Artorias was inspired by this TRUE wolf knight? By Link? "Hero of the royal family, send out to defeat all threats to the realm." Do I talk about Artorias or Link now? Oh...and Link wields his sword in the left hand, too. Just like Artorias. "Berserk" here, "Guts" there. When the answer was so obvious all the time...Still dreaming? Let me help you waking up. Remember Princess Dusk? Dusk....the twillight.....The Twillight Princess! Do you finaly realise it? Do you get it now?

False as the wolf ring states Artorias the abysswalker

The unique moveset is in the WA now :/

The item thumbnail is an evil lie. When I first transposed it I was expecting the clean version from DS1 but instead we get the half-rotten version. Much sad.

In the past the wiki said it has a special backstab animation and in the comments they said it's false someone said it's only if you use the hornet ring and someone else said that even with the ring it's still false but i discovered that it's true and that is with or without the ring it's true differrence it and the animation of the other greatswords is that it uses the straight sword backstab animation and ss animation is just a bit faster
