Lore & Trivia:

  • This is the Greatsword of the Wolf Knight Artorias, a boss and character from the first Dark Souls.
  • The blade appears to be corrupted by the Abyss, having only one sharpened and uncorrupted side.
  • Unlike Dark Souls 2, weilding this weapon in your left hand does not grant a unique moveset.

Lol @ +17, the damage on the thing is trash (same for most boss weapons). U r better off heavy infusing cathedral knight sword with 66 strength instead of 40 strength 40 Dex, 2 handing equals 99 strength. SAVAGE WEAPON does like 6hunno two handed when buffed plus pretty light for an UGS. Also pair's well with Leo ring as it does strike/thrust. Simply put it will put a fool down.

Even tho the scaling seems to favour strength, dexterity seems to boost the damage signigicantly more (26 strength/26 dex and increasing strength by 5 gives it +11 damage while increasing strength by 5 gives it +17)

So glad I don't have to use this in my left hand any more. I loved the damage and moveset, but not being able to backstab or riposte was a majestic pain in the butt.

          • 23 Oct 2016 05:41

With the poise changes and greatsword attack speed buff, this weapon is a monster! no more do i get staggered mid attack plus both weapon art speed are also buffed

            • Why11 Oct 2016 10:59

If only the L2+R1 had Hyperarmor, it would've been way more useful. The animation is so long that before you even use it you get staggered by one hit of anything.

              • Why does it have to be corrupted!?!04 Oct 2016 14:47

Why can't there be some way to remove the corruption from the sword!! It's a cursed sword that got corrupted by the abyss but still does extra damage to abyss related enemies. So if it does that then why doesn't it take away health from the player wielding the sword since it is corrupted by the Abyss itself.

Ok I'm new to be series and I kinda sold the souls of the abyss watchers and was wondering if I should start a new game in order to obtain this greatsword. In other words is it a good weapon for late game bosses and is it worth it?

                  • If only this sword had a sheathe10 Aug 2016 16:49

I take very seriously the fashion soul's, and I can't stand the fact that the Claymore has an awesome sheathe while this not :(

                    • No exclusive reposte..08 Aug 2016 17:20

I dunno who put that there but they're dumb. Has the same riposte and backstab as every other sword. Hornet Ring only thing that gives special riposte.

                      • It could be so much better...05 Aug 2016 17:02

This weapon looks awesome. It has an epic moveset. It does damage to make your opponent think twice. But it has no hyperarmor. Or at least it never does when I use it. As epic as the weapon art is, it takes a year and a half to charge giving your opponent plenty of time to either dodge... Or smack you right out of it. As slow as this weapon's special abilities are... IT NEEDS HYPERARMOR!!! It's already bad enough that the weapon art is so easy to dodge. At least let us punish someone for trying to tank it. DS3 sucks so much because of the lack of poise. That's why there is such a meta. Either use a fast stunlock weapon or a big weapon with hyperarmor rendering everything in between less viable.

I transposed the Greatsword, Ludleth took my 10k souls, and the sword is not in my inventory. Am I just being dumb or did my game actually bug out and waste 30k souls?
