Cathedral Knight Greatshield is a Shield in Dark Souls 3.




A heavy iron shield used by the knights of the Cathedral of the Deep. The blessings of the Cathedral have granted it high dark absorption.

The face of the shield is decorated with the emblem of an old king of Lothric: a bold image of a great bird gazing skywards.

Skill: Shield Bash
Without lowering your guard, strike the enemy with the shield to knock them back or stagger them. Works while equipped in either hand.


Notes and Tips:

  • Can be Buffed and Infused.
  • Reinforced with Titanite.
  • Provides an average block of 72%.
  • the Maxed(+10) reinforced and Deep(Gem) infused has 99.6% dark defence. However, this does reduce the physical and other elemental defences.
  • Has 75 stability at +10.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

      Cathedral Knights must be really weak. 1 Kick with the horsehoof ring equipped and every greatshield wearing cathedral knight will be history.

        Don't use the Dancer's bonfire to farm, better use Oceiros'. You got a free backstab and two knights instead of one.

          I wish this shield and the Lothric Knight Greatshield had swapped color palettes.

          Imagine this shield, but the engravings are silver instead of gold, which would strengthen the reference to Raime's Shield from DSII, whereas the Lothric Knight Greatshield would have golden engravings instead of silver, and would fit the theme of the Lothric Knights and their golden embellished equipment. It just seems like a missed opportunity. :/

              Got it very easily actually.
              I wanted to farm the whole set including weapons and shield. With Golden Serpent Ring+3 the drop is scarce, but curiously as soon as I use a rusted coin I get almost a piece of equipment per kill. I only need to get the mace now.
              I farmed the two at Oceiros bonfire for the UGS and the set, and the one before the elevator from the Lothric castle bonfire for the shield and mace.
              I didn't level LCK at all btw. Stock Herald character 11 points of luck in NG.

                    Shield bash just doesn't work the way it's claimed. When you initiate the shield bash you can be stunned by any enemy with any sort of weapon no matter what.You are basically lowering your guard.

                      I farmed them for at least what felt like two hours, no idea but I killed a ton of them, and I got their leggings and gloves. I still haven't gotten a single greatshield, and my choices were between this and black iron, I think it's obvious now which I'm going to use

                        I used the gold serpent ring, mimic head, and crystal sage rapier in off-hand to farm it and it dropped pretty quick (about 5 tries), even though my character otherwise only has 7 luck. Really worth getting those items for farming, they help massively in my experience.

                          Already went through 13 golden coins, four regular coins, and killed him plenty of times beyond that just to try and get this thing... Proving to be the most difficult item I've tried to get in this game thus far.
