i think that this is one of the only weapons where a bleed infusion is better than hollow + rouge, in my charcter with 45 luck, i get 103 bleed when infused, which is enough to bleed people in 2 to 3 hits, almost as easily as vordt's great hammer procs frost on people, whereas, if you put hollow and rouge on it, it would only do about 60 - 70 bleed damage, which is almost the same as any other weapon that has bleed with hollow and rouge.

Been using this in PvP on a 40/40 Quality build, and a 70 Dex build. While its AR falls short of other Curved Greatswords on these builds (and on any, really), the Weapon Art makes it a worthy sidegrade. You can true combo R1 into 2/3 of the Weapon Art 100% of the time, and if you're lucky, it'll true combo into the full Weapon Art. Either way, it's far more effective than a normal R1 -> R1. The motion values on the first and second hits of the WA are higher than they are for the Murakumo or Exile GS WA, so out of the three, this is the only one worth comboing the R1 into Weapon Art.

Players are also just not usually prepared to deal with this thing's WA, because nobody uses this weapon. I've caught a ton of tryhard PKCS Lapps with it, because they have no idea how to space it. Also seems to have more poise than the other CGS Spin Slash Weapon Arts? Not sure. Only thing I have to caution about this thing is that it absolutely destroys your stamina. If you commit to the WA and miss, you're gonna be begging for your life. Although, since nobody uses this weapon, they probably have idea that you're at negative 8000 stamina, and will be a bit cautious about going for the punish.

Fairly easy farming with Symbol of Avarice and Gold Serpent Ring +3: Catacombs of Carthus bonfire: down the tunnel, wait for the skeleton ball to pass, turn right, then left, then left again to face 2 Carthus Curved Sword wielding Gravewarden Skeletons. Proceed down the tunnel and take out the Carthus Curved Greatsword weilding Gravewarden Skeleton. All 3 are guaranteed to drop at least 1 item every time that they die. It took me 15 minutes to get 2 CCGS, 4 CCS, 3 Vertebrae Shackles, a Sharp Gem, half a dozen Carthus Rouge, a couple of embers and quite a few large titanite shards and titanite shards (the most common drops).

I am actually surprised how severely underused this weapon is in PVP. Screw bleed builds, bleed sadly kind of sucks on any build above like SL40, but use this on a dex build, sharp infuse it and apply gold pine bundles and you may unironically have the hardest hitting true combo in the entire game. In case you didn't know this, R1 true combos into the full WA. The only thing balancing this weapon is the fact that curved GS's are a rather bit slow and that the true combo is not always guaranteed. But if it hits, boy does it hit. I picked this weapon up, because I wanted to try out new weapon, and after straight up doing 1.2k damage on someone, oneshotting them, I fell in love with this weapon. Friendship with Harald curved GS ended, Carthus curved GS is now my best friend.

i went to catacombs of carthus and backtracked wait for skelton ball to move and there are 3 carhus knights in that section gold coin and regular rusted coin combined took bout 20 minute but i got one

Farming Carthus Curved GS- Abyss watchers bonfire then drop to the right on the ledges, kill the skeleton with the hat then, boost luck with a gold coin and covetous serpent ring, then you get 2 chances each time.

lots of people sleep on this thing but this is deadly when blood infused, lvl 100 luck 40 and it'll usually trigger bleed in only 3 hits

Does this still combo with r1 into jump attack? And are there any other true combos on this like r1 to WA or Charged r2 to jumping attack? I'm asking because it seems some curved greatswords have different true combos and there isn't much info about it here.

This weapon is the grand savior of split damage weapons because it has ridiculous enough scaling with basically any elemental infusion to compensate for the harsher penalty from double absorption

This is my favorite weapon for when I get serious, I have 2 of them, one for poison and one with and extra bleed. Your gonna smack bosses, with poison it’s a double whammy on invaders. I’m gonna try out a enchanted frost version because I here that’s a solid choice too!

You have to change you mindset with this weapon compared to other curved greatswords, because this one requires constant pressure and mixups between r1s and r2. If you re not excepcionally agressive, you won't trigger the bleed and the enemy will get you cornered.

I dont use this weapon but I just wanted to say that any weapon is viable as long as you are willing to practice with it. I try every weapon I get, but I mostly use executioner greatsword. As long as you play to your weapons weaknesses it'll be alright. Praise the Sun and happy gaming!

Well...bleed is very hard to be viable in pvp and this really doesn’t help my bleed build so I think I have to scrap the idea

Frost blade really goes well with this sword. It dose a weird thing where it proc bleed and frostbite every 3rd hit at the same time with my quality build and refined infused. Literally 3 R1 2H hits kill the wandering Judicator in the ringed city streets on NG+ every time.

Most people say that bleed is not viable, an it is but one thing I can say for sure, this weapon + barbed sword both infused with bleed is a WAY stronger than you expect, procs bleed in 3 hits usually and the sword for spacing.

Not a viable weapon in 2020. Still good for PVE but PVP, you'll only open yourself to backstab city. Consider other GS like EGS and FGS or OWCGS

Takes 3 full WA combos to trigger bleed on a 40 Luck Hollow-infusion with carthus rouge up in rapid succession on medium armor. and the bleed trigger does about 250 damage. Woof.

Dark infusions works surprisingly well with this curved greatsword. Rivalizes quite well with a dark infused exile gs plus the bleed. Sadly, to trigger the bleed you ll have to move faster than the carthus warriors

Discount Marakumo. Less damage, bad tracking on the weapon art (backstabs for days), bleed was nuked and it weighs only 0.5 units less. Pointless weapon.

Monstrous with blood infusion in both pve and pvp. Just carry a blood bandit for overly passive players that red moss. Baiting rolls by tapping guard and roll catching is effective for aggressive players that are anxious to roll the bleed. Now tell me "hEavY BleEd wePs or not ViaBle, BlEed bUilds Or ded."

Just a new thing, a +10 Cathrus Curved Greatsword on a sharp infusion gets an S scaling in dex, not an A scaling.

The menu icon makes this weapon look much smaller than it really is in-game. The blade doesn't seem even remotely close to as thick in the icon as it does in-game. Just thought that I'd point this out.
