I forget this is also a staff, but it's pretty funny. It's a decent melee weapon, has a fiery sweet spot when using melee spells, and is really long too.

I miss this bad boy in ER. This is what Lorreta's glaive should have been.

220 spellbuff at 60 int is kinda wild considering this is a hybrid catalyst. That's better than some actual staves. Underrated weapon tbh.

For those wondering:
Strength softcap - 26
Dex softcap - 40
Int softcap - 60

- Anonymous
when using farron flashsword does aby fire or physical damage?
- Anonymous
It's literally on fire and it cannot cast pyromancies? Cmon!!
- Anonymous
Great weapon for int build because you can do magic damage with sorceries and fire that scales with int, I'm tired of sorcery and crysyal weapon
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Probably the only weapon that doesn't say what it's reinforced with on this wiki.
- Anonymous
Everyone's complaining that this is an int-scaling weapon with fire damage, meanwhile I'm more annoyed that it's has better dexterity than strength scaling. Dex-int builds already have enough weapons, str-int builds have the Heysel Pick (and *maybe* the Moonlight Great Sword, although really that's a pure int weapon with a str requirement)
- Anonymous
fun fact: Farron Flashword and Soul Greatsword do some of the weapons fire damage when you hit up close, great for resetting the frost buildup of snapfreeze for pure sorcery runs.
- Anonymous
If you say "there should be fire sorcery for this" or "why this doesn't shoot pyromancies" everybody is like "nOoOoOoOoOo". But they're perfectly fine when crystal chime casts lightning stake + old moonlight. Thanks to your non-existant logic, elden ring has this customizable weapon art spamfest.

I' fine with this being unable to cast pyromancies but why are there no flame sorceries
- Anonymous
For all you crying for pyromancy: its a f king profaned flame! Deacons use it and they are miracle casters/sorcerers, Pontiff uses it and he's a sorcerer, even profaned flame pyromancy requires only inteligence to cast, just like every sorcery. Plus before pyromancy existed, witches of Izalith were using catalysts to cast flame sorceries.
Lore aside, isnt it good that sorcerers have something that doesnt do magic damage in case someone is super resistant to it?
- Anonymous
These mofo’s really made an entire stick of fire unable to cast pyromancies, smh my head
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If you aim for these stats in dex and str you can pretty much use most of the other int weapons(crescent sword, moonlight greatsword, aquamarine dagger, friede scythe,crystal/simple infused astora greatsword, infused LKS,judgement greatsword, etc) and still have really good DMG considering the ones i mentioned only lose 30-50 AR for not reaching their dex softcap
- Anonymous
Don't get me wrong, I always love another sorcery catalyst, but wouldn't it make more sense for this to be a pyromancy catalyst? Considering the enemies who utilize this solely use fire based attacks?
- Anonymous
Torch but stronger. Exceptionally good at traversing through dark interiors of Irithyll and mow down legions of weak irithyllian slaves.
- Anonymous
This is quite the counter to crucifix of the mad king. Yes, the latter has poise and is buffable, but with this one being half-catalyst, spacing is your game. Besides, strafing won't do against the weapon art.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Everybody here talking about farron flashsword and no one seems to realize that with a sorcery catalyst that deals fire damage you can freeze an opponent with frozen weapon or flash freeze and hit them with this in order to immediately unfreeze them, letting you freeze them again for more damage.
- Anonymous
This weapon has exceptional range with Farron Flashsword, this is very easy to see.
It ALSO deals extra fire (and maybe physical?) damage.
I've tested at SL 129 with in NG+ wielding 2-handed against the dogs and hollows near the Undead Settlement bonfire. Hitting the the two non-fat dogs causes the fire animation and they start writhing on the ground.
I think there are 2 parts to the spell. A few times I got hit by a dog at the start on the swinging animation, and I'd only hit them for around 20 damage. This is kind of tough to replicate, I think the window is only a few frames.
Unlike most catalysts, casting FFS with this can cause you to clash against it, ending the spell (not sure if it still uses mana when this happens). Using it against the hollows, an interuptted hit did only 20 damage, and a full hit dealt 276.
There's probably a lot more to it. Maybe all catalysts add some weapon damage? I'm not going full Oldman-senpai here.
Also of note: FFS can be cast as unique running, backstep, and rolling attacks, but not jump attacks.

Am I the only one finding this weapon weird?
Don't get me wrong, I will use, but it needs 4 stats and only scales with 3, the dancer's sword needs just as much and scales off all of them, and yet is considered a meh weapon.
So is it the dancer's sword of catalyst, or am I bad at recognizing good weapons?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This weapon does less damage if the enemy is too close and is hit by the shaft rather than the hedgehog of fire. Apply maximum hog for maximum damage
- Anonymous
Parry sweet spot on this weapon is a little strange. Parry at the end of the weapon is iffy if you can at all. Leo ring is also a great addition for those passive people as well as it reaches longer then most weapons.
- Anonymous
Are there any true combos with R1 and sorceries except for farron flashsword? (im not sure that's a true combo, but i assume it is)
- Anonymous
hehehe, get this.
You know how the background of this page has some sort of a landscape?
Right in the middle of your screen there's a bridge.
Forget that it is a bridge.
It is now a "Dat ass" smirk.
You're welcome.
- Anonymous
>does fire damage
>requires both int and faith (as pyromancy does)
>the enemies that use it use fire
>used to cast sorceries
come on, at least let it also cast Pyromancies as well as Sorceries, like how the Black Witch Staff in ds2 could cast both sorceries and miracles
- Anonymous
For those looking to min-max their Immolation Tinder sorcerer builds, I found that at 24/30 attunement and 60 int + minimum requirements to wield one-handed, the Pyromancer has two more spare levels at the sl 120 -125 meta compared to Sorcerer. Not a huge difference but worth noting for those who want as much vigor and endurance as possible.
- Anonymous
Does this weapon have the sweet spot and the fire damage applied when using farron flashsword?

this, my sorcerer's and sorceress's, will be, and is our Excalibur, we have been mocked by strength builds, and insulted enough by those dirty faith builds, with their "magic barriers" and there "lightning arrows", WE SHALL BURN THEM BACK TO ASH, they were unfit to be cinder, THEY ARE UNFIT FOR LIFE, WHOSE WITH ME?! in the name of big fat logan, and trusty patches, WE SHALL CLEANSE THE LAND OF FAITH BUILDS

this is the only weapon in this game that is 3 things at the same time: a torch, a catalyst and a halberd, but it does none of them perfectly, its a catalyst that can't buff itself, a torch that does not removes leeches and a halberd that does not have a heavy attack, i really can't find any actual use for this weapon other than doing cool cosplays with it

Would anybody be willing to trade a fully upgraded version of this for a Titanite Slab. There is something I want to fully upgrade and I don’t want to start a another playthrough just to do it?

I just realized From could have totally used the 1st part of Mad King Cruxifix WA to to give us the spouty flame attack the Fire Witches can do. They could have given this weapon a stance (like how the Dragonslayer Armour holder his weapon) then put Punitive Flame on the light attack and the spouty flame on the heavy attack.
- Anonymous
The weapon art I found has 2 hits the first being the slash and the second being the fire trail that follows afterward on top of that the slash flinches the opponent which nearly guarantees the fire will hit if you land the slash. Unless they have super armour
- Anonymous
spellbuff softcaps at 60 int as expected, oddly enough the same thing applies to the fire AR

At 7 luck and no item discovery items (coins, rapier, etc), the weapon dropped after 19 kills.

If I cast Soul GreatSword or Farron FlashSword with this does the TWeapon Hit with it or just the spell?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
This is a fun PvE tool for sorcery builds against bosses weak to frost like Dragonslayer Armor. Use the Immolation Tinder to cast snap freeze and let the boss take the freeze damage and then smack them with this weapon to deal fire damage to them which removes their frost cooldown. Rinse and repeat.

Has anyone figured out how to move the flame efficiently yet? I tried to do some testing and there was one time where it curved left heavily then went straight forward and I haven't been able to do it again. I'm testing it on flat surfaces so nothing influences it's movement like in the pontiff boss room
- Anonymous
not gonna lie, i feel as if this is the better option for Farron Flashsword, just r1 r2 and they'll have a good amount of health gone.
This weapon is OP in PvP. I have a +5 and im killing so much people.

Is it possible to cast sorceries even if I don't meet the strenght requirement?
- Anonymous
I'd like to know why this thing bounces off of larger opponents, crabs mainly. And I don't mean when I attack, just when I'm near their pincer, my character get's stunlocked for no reason.
- Anonymous
>casts sorceries
>fire damage
>used by fire witches to cast pyromancies
> FROM WHY?
- Anonymous
Works well with snap freeze on some boss like Ariandel. Frostbite will burst between every R1.
- Anonymous
Is this weapon always spell buffed? No move to use for spell buff?
- Anonymous
What is the consequence of not meeting the FTH requirement?
One of the best weapon for hybrids. Sadly the strength requirement is too high for my dex/int build and it has an unnecessary faith requirement.
So... What about using dark sorceries on this thing? Would something like Dark Edge work well, or is the scaling lackluster?
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Woah something that bursts into flames when held, must be a sorcery weapon!
- Anonymous
I feel like it would be pretty cool if, as an exception, it would allow you to cast Profaned Flame. On topic, however, I feel like this weapon is wonderful for PVP; you get a halberd with solid damage and good spellbuff. Pair it with a parrying tool or a good shield (Since you'll have 18 strength just to wield it, you can get a Black Knight shield) and you're all set to go. If you want, you can also off-hand it and get another weapon such as Moonlight Greatsword and be able to attack in any way you want. Versatility should make up for a little bit of lost spellbuff.
- Anonymous
30/40/60 strength dex int gives 664 ar and has 220 spell buff. Top this off with Leo ring (and maybe fire clutch). Fun fact: If this was buffable, crystal magic weapon on this build would give a monstrous total of 873 ar...
- Anonymous
Something I really dig about this (and the other catalyst weapons) is that its moveset is virtually unchanged in the left hand (it doesn't block or parry), essentially allowing the user to have two fully functional weapons at once.
tbh, I think this is one of the best candidates for a main weapon on a caster. It's all in one. Its strong enough as a catalyst, has good damage, good range, a good R1 combo and lots of versatility with what you can put into its R2 casting slot. Also comes with a pretty nifty AOE in its L2. Caster just has to two hand this thing, and they're good to go no switching all the time or anything, they have everything they need.
- Anonymous
Can someone make a reddit post about the fact that, if you're two handing it, the cast button(R2 PS4) will sometimes do a jump slash attack instead of casting a spell. It's getting annoying I died bc of this.
- Anonymous
could someone please give one of these things +0 to me ?? i dont have any friends that play dark souls 3 and i need one for my new character , my psn id is guillepablo90
- Anonymous
I'm running a build with 99 INT and this has a spellbuff of 232. I prefer this over the court sorceror staff despite that staff having over 250 spellbuff for me. Court Sorcerer Staff may do more magic damage, but the Tinder can also swat people with a facefull of fire. The versatility of the Tinder is the selling point of it, and it's well sold.
- Anonymous
Perhaps this staff was initially an experiment made by someone who heard of the Lost Izalith Flame Sorcery, and so they thought up this thing.
Clearly it is designed to be a Sorcery Staff, but Imbued with Pyromancy. The Idea was that the Fire Enchantment on the staff was supposed to coat Sorcery in Flame's when used as a Sorcery staff to crudely mimic the ancient art of the now lost Fire Pyromancies. It does appear to have worked to an extent when used by fire witches, but the player doesn't know how to use the weapons unique casting features, because when used by the player they can only either use the staff for normal sorcery or use the flame enchant on it in melee just not to the fullest extent of its power(which explains why it wont scale with faith.)
Thoughts?

This thing is a powerhouse. One of the more versatile weapons in the game. All the attacks do thrust damage, so combined with the Leo Ring, this does an obscene amount of damage in PvP. Combined with its weapon art (like Black Serpent with less tracking) and ability to cast sorceries with a strong (but not the strongest) spell buff, the Immolation Tinder places itself in the upper end of weapon tiers.
- Anonymous
So... Can somebody explain me why a fire weapon with a weapon art that casts a fire spell is for sorcerers and not pyromancers?
- Anonymous
Arguably the most versatile catalyst in the game, and potentially as deadly as the mother of all Halberds: GH. While you don't have GH's INSANE homing-sweep charge, you do gain an additional ranged attack with Punitive Flame, and though the damage is somewhat low (as is the WA cast speed), Punitive Flame does scale with INT, and has proven to be on par with unbuffed Chaos Fire Orbs immediate damage (Not the lingering lava damage, so Pyros can breathe easy) In the end, this affords any sorcerer build with an INT scaling fire based spell without consuming an attunement slot. Combine the WA with the Immolation Tinder's ability to interrupt its own combos with Farron Spamsword, and you've got yourself a killer at any range.
The melee damage is obscene for a caster weapon, as the Immolation Tinder easily outclasses the MGS, even when MGS is being buffed by Scholar's Candlestick and Crown of Dusk. Also, the Immolation Tinder is 0.5 pounds lighter than the MGS, and fulfills the role of a catalyst. So technically, the Immolation Tinder is 2.5 pounds lighter than the equivalent MGS and Court Sorcerer's Staff.
Spellbuff isn't top class, but it most certainly maintains a position ahead of middle class.
Makes for a better torch than the Torch, and having a weaponized light source in Dark Souls is always a perk.
All in all, the Immolation Tinder is one of my personal favorites, well worth a Titanite Slab. There is no shortage of tricks that this Halberd can pull off. Easily the most unpredictable weapon in PVP, even mores o than TPGS, as you can go from melee to casting at the flip of a switch. There's nothing quite like beating your opponent into retreat, only to nuke them with Crystal Soul Spear the instant they go for the Estus.
One of the peculiar things I've noted in regards to this weapon pertains to Farron Spamsword. Unlike traditional catalysts, the Immolation Tinder's Farron Spamswords can be cancelled prematurely when hitting walls. Also: I've noticed an "orange" aura afflicting foes hit by Farron Spamswords cast by the Immolation Tinder. Given its unusual mechanics, I'm left to wonder if the Immolation Tinder's Farron Flashswords can proc a burning effect on foes. Given the infrequency of this "orange" aura, testing for Flashsword synergizing with the Immolation Tinder's burn proc has proven inconclusive.

I started out with 1000 souls and I have been farming for this weapon and now I have 130000 souls. 1% drop chance!?!??!

Wow just discovered this weapon, its looks great might make a sorcerer for this
- Anonymous
What are those sentences referring to; Punitive Flame and melee or sorcery damage spells as well? I don't want Great Heavy Soul Arrow damage converted to fire damage.
18/18/12~18/12 have same ARat 27/40/60/12, 2 handed AR reach 662, with spell buff 220

Does the spellbuff increase my pyromancies damage even if they're casted from my pyro flame ? If so does that mean it could be good for a dual sorcerie and pyro build ?
- Anonymous
Why do I get the feeling that this uses more stamina per spell than a normal catalyst? I keep getting my stamina to 0 more often compared to when I was using the sorcerer staff even though I was playing almost the same way. Am I going hollow or something?
- Anonymous
Can you tell us how much int you had tho in the tips or notes
The Int scaling gives no + to fire damage below a certain threshold. On my +5 tinder it had a 132 fire base damage with no plus at 18 int. At 21 Int it gained a +12 next to it.
I can confirm that the weapon art scales with the weapon's AR similar to Morne's Great Hammer.
- Anonymous
with 60 int i am having 220 spellbuff, while clerics candlestick has only 200
The ability to cancel your delay when using an R1 into a Farron Flashsword spam or Soul Greatsword will almost always catch people, and unless they panic roll, they can't roll behind you either. This thing is fast, deadly, and unpredictable, which is exactly the kind of weapon that intellect builds need. It's also extremely difficult for players to judge your range since the Tinder is longer than a Farron Flashsword, but shorter than a Soul Greatsword. You can even use Homing Crystal Soulmass to setup a more favorable situation where they're already mid dodge and now have to contend with your full stamina bar's worth of options. The only real downsides to this weapon is that it requires you to essentially put empty points into Faith and pretty much forces you to put at least some consideration into Vitality in order to wield it without fat rolling. The L2 is also pretty bad and really only wastes your FP with very few exceptions. It also pretty much requires the use of Crown of Dusk, Sage Ring, and Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring, but that's pretty much a given for Sorcerer builds. Here's hoping there's some oversight and they end up buffing Farron Flashsword to the point where this thing becomes absolutely ridiculous.
- Anonymous
Note that when casting a spell such as dark edge, the weapon itself does not have the ability to hit and do damage.Don't waste your time making a build to be a cool magic melee fire cross anti Jesus like I did.
- Anonymous
Great weapon if upgraded + fire buff and rings etc, but it legit looks like a Burning Cross.
- Anonymous
This weapon is alright, starts of very weak. But with enough points the r1 hits hard. Weapon art is slow but usable on magic resistant monsters. After testing the 3 weapon staff catalyst, cleric candlestick, Tinder and Heysel pick. This weapon has the best base spell buff, Heysel pick the worst. But Heysel and this weapon has a better weapon art compared to the abysmal cleric candlestick.

This weapon is quite amazing and has a lot of damage and range. The range is even greater when one-handed, but the damage is lower. Can not be infused because it already is infused and all attacks are fire-based and can burn enemies. Comes with a special homing flame attack which is kinda weak but can be powered with rings like Fire Clutch Ring (extremely recommended for this weapon) Also can be used for combos with physical attacks + sorceries for example Soul Greatsword or similar spells. The Immolation Tinder is very stamina intensive, but if you are okay with that, Chloranthy Ring is also strongly recommended, because your stamina will probably run out after 4 swings of the weapon (in 2 handed mode).Has a powerful knockback effect on most enemies, as any other heavy weapon.Sadly you can't use the other flaming abilities, especially the impaling one, which they could have used for the backstab. The nasty ground-flaming the Fire Witches use would have been pretty amazing (and OP) though. Looks very nice with the Fire Witch armor set.
- Anonymous
consume the weapon stamina with farron flashsword (but can catch rolls evasion), quite heavy for mages, and bounce on the walls(&shields) quite easily unlike chimes or stavessplit damage (18str 18dex 60int 12fth it does ~15% on high walls hollows than a straight sword...but i didn't used the fire clutch ring, cause one clutch ring, for the spell, is enough XD)very good SB (202 same than court's at 50 int, 220 at 60 int), hyperarmor...&thrust damage
While it probably would be listed if it were a thing, does anyone know if R1 combos into Soul Greatsword at max cast speed? I know (supposedly) Haysel Pick does, but idk how long halberd R1 hitstun is compared to hammer hitstun.
