Greataxes are a type of Weapon in Dark Souls 3. Greataxes are larger versions of their Axe counterparts and are usually wielded two-handed. These Weapons usually do very high damage and have slower attacks. Great Axes tend to do more AoE attacks than Greatswords.

Ashes of Ariandel DLC: Bottom of ravine in snowy mountain area |

the only weapon i choose to never touch after tried it for the first time, damage isnt bad but bad moveset really irks me off especially that rolling attack is pure retarded
- Anonymous
How the hell Mfer Ashen one does flips with GS and combos with two paired UGS but then when it comes to greataxes he hoes full retard and only swings downwards.
- Anonymous
No matter how much you love greataxes we can all admit they got done dirty in ds3
Except for the black knight greataxe but then again all the black knight weapons are awesome

Greataxe moveset is the most boring and the most telegraphed in the game and it pains me, cause they have cool looks and weapon arts. R1 and R2 is the same thing, R2 is just slower, plus 2H rolling R1 may be the worst attack in the whole game, it has 1/3 of a broken straight sword range. This makes greataxe class pretty garbage against ganks, even against 2 people and you will miss while unlocked more than you ever missed. What's funny is that they have 1 horizontal R1: when you fail to do a backstab -.-. Also every greataxe wielding enemy in the game has some horizontal attacks (machette guy, Yhorm, Dragonslayer Armor, Millwood Knight, Demon Ruins Pyromancers). The only nice thing is R1 combos into jumping R2, Yhorms warcry R2 combos into R1 plus BKGA is the only one with good and fun moveset.

"Fck your spacing. if my heap of iron doesn't ruin your cheese, the shockwaves will."
Now, people complains about this trait of the greathammers, but with their atrocious stamina consumption they really need it.

I really want a cooler moveset for these in ER. Gets boring after slamming the ground with every attack.

Least fun class of weapons to use in PvP and fight in PvP. Sorry
Greataxes in a nutshell:
Greataxe: murky has more range especially on a bad connection
Demons greataxe: look how they massacred my boy
Great machete: yhorms is better. Admit it.
Yhorms great machete: the original pioneer of the vertical smash
Dragonslayer greataxe: L2 GO BRR
Black knight greataxe: a quality build menace
Earth seeker: Vietnam flashbacks of getting bounced like a tennis ball

Imagine a greataxe with the "Greatsword" (UGS) move set. The two heavy's would be sooo aweesome. Especially on the black knight greataxe
- Anonymous
Worst weaponclass for bossfights. doing a swing looks you in place for solid 2 seconds, giving any boss in the game enough time to hit you back. And that retard high stamina consumption. Worthless outside of pvp
- Anonymous
The biggest shame in this weapon class is that all of them except the Black Knight Greataxe have the same bland overhead chopping moveset, even though Dragonslayer Greataxe, Yhorm's Great Machete, and Earth Seeker are used with significantly more interesting movesets when wielded by enemies.

The rolling r1 is such dog**** oh my god. I've been literally right next to enemies, rolled into them so I was literally as close as possible, and the rolling r1 still didn't hit them. It's like the hitbox doesn't exist.

The one and only dragonslayer greataxe was my favorite and now the black knight greataxe
- Anonymous
I keep forgetting this is a class of weapons because all I ever really see Is Dragonslayer Greataxe, Yhorm's Great Machete, and the normal Greataxe.

The pickaxe is called a great hammer but the moveset is identical to a greataxe. Additionally, it has axe in the name. Why is it not a greataxe?
- Anonymous
Why, of all things did Ultra great swords & Great hammers get buffed? Why is there no love for greataxes ;_; The windup is slow and predictable, you barerly have hyperarmor, bad tracking, 2h moveset is awful on most of them. From, show us some love.
- Anonymous
Do greataxes still have faster hyper armor frames when off-handed?
- Anonymous
i think the great machetes need to be under great curve swords no?

... Why isn't the chain axe from the big snake dude useable? I want me some chain axeion.

drops from the large enemy with a wooden plank strapped to his back with the two handed handsaw in the undead village on the way to the curse-rotted tree boss.
Horrible tracking. The only weapon type you can possibly evade by walking, not running/dodging. Vertical moveset has no followups. Poisebreak is just 3rd best behind greathammers and ultra greatswords. Also the hyperarmor. Damage is good but what's the point if you can't hit anyone? Couple these with a ridiculous and pointless rolling attack. I get that greataxes need vertical strikes cause that makes sense, but why didn't From just added the tracking/hitbox size of ultra greatswords to them?
The only one worthy of anything is the Black Knight GA but that one is just too slow in general to be used for anything in PvP
