Might be glitched, I killed Dragonslayer Armour instantly when I used this. Anybody else seen this glitch?

      • Anonymous

A friend of mine got summoned to a boss fight and the host was using this to get more signs to appear. Other than that I can only see this being used to check for summon signs before embering you don't ember for no reason. However the name implies it's more used for notes. As well as the scholars candlestick implying it's used for reading in the dark. I for one need to do a walkthrough of the game before going to NG++ to check for anything I missed so I will be on the lookout for any dev notes and will try to record any I find.

Allowing you to SEE summon signs but not allowing you to summon?

That's like making multiplayer areas for DLCs so that people who don't have it can play it... and making said area the worst in the souls-like genre

Good for checking if there’s any summons near the bonfire when you aren’t embered. Especially for covenant invasion areas or pvp hotspots, where I CAN’T BE NOT INVADED FOR 5 SECONDS.

immagine someone who cares would work as a developer for the company and made the spell ability to see NPC phantom for some boss fights or areas.
If it shows MORE summon sings, it would only make sense give provide some NPC summons as well. and it woulnd be a big deal either.
Just huh, you want more help ? ok here's an npc.

no no no it has to provide developers messages.

i havent read any that is summoned by the spell but i can already immagine...

              "Good job!"
              "Leg ahead, and then, leg!"
              "Woman required ahead!"
              "Try finger, but hole!"
              "Horse!"
              "hurrah for message!"

no thanks. ill do better alone, in the dark.

This is basically for when a game first comes out and we don’t have an abundance of internet help. When Elden Ring comes out I’m hoping there will be an equivalent of this spell for when I inevitably get lost/confused on what to do next.

CONGRATULATIONS!! You’ve found what is probably the most pointless spell in the game! If you want to use it just equip the cleric’s or scholar’s candle stick instead of wasting a spell slot.

I actually got something that may be interesting. I was trying to figure out a puzzle near the Ringed City streets bonfire, there's that wall that says "show your humanity." I was unembered and the nearby messages just said something about dark/ghost. So I pulled out the scholar's candlestick and used its buff and I noticed the chair on the far side of the room had a dev message in front of it that I couldn't see without the buff. "If only I had a mimicry..."

Don’t know what the hate for this spell is for. This spell is a must have for anyone that wants to summon without running the risk of using an ember only to get no summons. Only a limited amount of embers and you’re in a known pvp area use this and see for yourself if using an ember is anyworth it

                      • Anonymous

Most of the important developer messages appear automatically like the one instructing you what to do to trigger the Dancer boss fight. Unless I'm missing something, such as messages from developers telling you where an illusory wall is or something more cryptic, this spell is just garbage. Even for what little remains of the RPG element.

So I can see summons but still need an ember. It provides light but doesn’t cure bleed build up so I still need a torch....so what does this thing do exactly?

                          • Anonymous

are invaters going to come to kill the host if he's not embered? if not this means it's easier to co-op by using this kind of spell

                            • Anonymous

It actually helps if you are invaded phantom spammer. When your phantoms die there is a cooldown on seeing summon signs again. Use Seek Guidance and voila!

This miracle should make the health bars of all phantoms in your world visible for a few seconds, sort of like the floating eyes when you enter a world as a blue. Use it as an invader to hunt down the host or spot a gank ambush, use it as a host to prepare for an invader who is hiding. Lasts only a few seconds so it doesn't completely remove any possibility of being sneaky, but can give you a general idea of where they're at so you don't spend 3 minutes running the wrong direction. Make it actually useful rather than flat out dumb as*****.

                                • So this miracle was just as useless in Dark Souls 1, but in Dark Souls 2 someone turned it around and actually made it handy for discovering illusory walls; then along comes Miyazaki, removes that feature and once again this spell goes back to being worthless. Why? Because FromSoft had to cater to the people who whined about DS1 being better than DS2 in every aspect; people who apparently believe is way more fun to have your character idiotically hit or roll against every suspicious wall in the game than look for hidden messages on the floor, and because Dark Souls 2 was such an unfortunate and disgraceful sequel that the only way to save the franchise from completely going down the drain was to make the third installment as similar as possible as the first one while disregarding even the things that Dark Souls 2 did right. That's why Dark Souls 3 features a disappointing New Game+ that is just as unrewarding as in Dark Souls 1; there are no Bonfire Ascetics, no Simpleton and Skeptic spices, no Dark Phantoms, no NPC that shows your rank within every covenant, not even a recording of how many times you've died in the game. That, fellow Ashen Ones, is Miyazaki's grand return to the series for you.

Why when i use this in front of Pontiff Sulyvahn's boss room the Black Hand Gothhard summom sign does not show up.

                                    • Anonymous

Seek Guidance is just a spell to use to see any more messages that have not shown up, but ARE THERE, when the player walks around. This may be because of too many messages on the same area or being too far away. Doesn't matter though, as messages can only be seen when you are near it and when the player who has laid them is also online. Thousands upon hundreds of messages laid across typical and even far off areas, or areas where it's on top of a stair or ledge.
Another item also casts this spell, but you need to hold it to have the effect still play, Scholars Candlestick.

All these people complaining about the miracle when its meant to show developer hints at parts of the game.
The parts most of us just look at the wiki for

Use Miracle to see summon sign, but you can only summon with Ember anyways.

To everyone complaining in comments its main purpose is when at 99 hollowed summon signs are obscured so this lets you see more signs without paying velka statue

So many steps backwards in 3. Why did you take out the "find the host" ability? It made this spell actually useful in more than set scenarios of revealing messages that most players eventually learn on their own. It was an actually GOOD utility miracle that wasn't heals or buffs. smh

                                              • Anonymous

I get the point behind this thing, but even if you use it as intended... you know, seeing if there's summon signs and then embering up to use them...Well, you're just as likely to actually have the summons work as you are having the summons continually time out until you get invaded, die, and then have to recast the miracle to see if there's summon signs still there.Although I guess if the only alternative to having this spell is to not have it... well, might as well just have it. I suppose it is more useful than things like lightning storm and WotG, in a way.

                                                • Anonymous

What a stupid unusable spell. Anyone thinks it'd still be fair to summon without ember using this spell since 1 it requires an attunement slot and 2 you don't get the hit points buff.

                                                  • Anonymous

Why would anyone post a question thinking they would wait for a response, instead of just reading a few posts first?! Lmao so many idiots...

                                                    • Anonymous

So..... i'm just wondering if anyone has thought to see if this miracle can nullify "illusion" effects for the one it's effecting. Like the Chameleon, hidden body, hidden weapon, and untrue ring effects. Possibly even the obscuring ring? Would be interesting to see.

                                                      • Anonymous

what is the point of using this spell to see signs without an ember if you still need the ember to summon them?

                                                        • Anonymous

"Displays more help from other worlds" Does that mean it increases the Level range to see more peoples Soapstones or what?

                                                          • Anonymous

Why would they let you see summon signs when you are not in Ember Form if they will just slap across the hand when you try to summon them? This would have been a good "Easy Mode" for the game.

                                                            • Anonymous

For people who don't use a wiki, it lets you see the signs so you know whether or not you should spend an ember. Or maybe you're looking for someone in particular?
