Harald Curved Greatsword is a Weapon in Dark Souls 3. It is part of the The Ringed City DLC.



Giant gold-decorated curved sword wielded by warriors of the Harald Legion, who sought the dark soul.

The swords sank into the dark with the legion, where their blades were severely corroded.

Skill: Sever
Hold the giant blade with both hands and slash repeatedly at foe's feet.

 

Notes and Tips:

  • Can be Infused and Buffed.
  • Reinforced with Titanite.



Location/Where to Find

  • The Ringed City: From the Earthen Peak Ruins bonfire, head over the castle and roots into the swamp. On the left end of the swamp, under the flying hollow, you will find a cave-like area under a root with a large hollow. You can find the greatsword on a corpse here. Video Example

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X". 
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped. 
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has: Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

      This weapon has a slower attack speed than other CGS such as the exile but the hilarious thing is that it’s speed is perfect at roll catching. A 3rd R1 is automatically timed perfectly and if someone rolls to your side they will take 4 swings.

          Probably the best late game weapon. Amazing scaling if you infuse it with Dark/Chaos (max 877 AR without buffs). Only 58 less AR than the Lothric Knight Greatsword (which happens to be the weapon with the highest AR of 935 without buffs) while consuming only half the stamina per swing and having faster attack speed.

            This has been my go to weapon, though I don't recall when exactly I started using it, but it's had to have been like a year that I've played with this weapon on and off. PvE wise, it's amazing. It's attack speed falls in between great sword and ultra greatswords. But damage and and stun potential are definitely on par with ultra great swords. Has an "s" scaling when heavy infused with 66 strength and 18 dexterity gets you an AR of 629. As the two handed moveset swings faster and has more hyper armor at no real detriment (might be a pixel less range), there's no real reason to one hand the weapon ever, making a two hand strength build the most viable. Sharp infusions won't match two handed AR until 22 strength and 99 dexterity. PvP wise, also pretty amazing. It's main moveset is standard for the Great Curved Sword class, but this weapon has the best range and above average damage so it's generally just a little bit better. The main draw of the weapon is it's weapon art, it has absolutely ridiculous hyper armor (which seems to activate almost instantly) and an insane true combo of L2+R2+R1. The only weapon you can't out hyper armor is the Ledo's Great hammer weapon art. Also, like all curved greatswords, the weapon art can't be parried, making it a great parry punish. Weapon art has some long recovery frames, especially after the R1 (the leap attack), making you vulnerable to backstabs. High stability shields and backstab fishing are troublesome tactics to face with this weapon alone, so toss on a knights sayers ring when people start turtling, use a crossbow, or drop some fire bombs. Weapons biggest weakness, is that it looks like a nice sword covered in hair balls and sewage. Utter garbage to look at. Probably some lore reason, but I think it would be way better without the crud covering it.

                I have a quality build lf 40/40 str and dex and this big ass machete does much more damage infused with sharp or refined, than with a heavy infusion. I though this was a good weapon for a strenght build, but it performs the best with a quality build

                      This weapon has a***** ton of hyper armor, hellishly good strength scaling, and the best range of any curved great sword, however it is almost as slow as an ultra great sword. It's R1's can easily be reaction parried (dependant on lag). The weapon art while it comes out quick, has very low range and long recovery frames. This weapon requires a passive play style centered around trading and reveals this weapons very slow nature and it's biggest weakness: It is too slow to play agrresively. It can be endlessly rolled. It's easily punished by cross bows, quick spells like farron dart, and thrown items. Also, if you start using spells that pressure your opponent like black serpent or homing soul mass, they won't have time to activate hyper armor frames as you rush them, as your spells can initiate a stun to be followed up with faster weapons like a straight or curved sword. Fun weapon for invasions against new players who don't know any better, as this thing is a trade machine. It falls in just the right place of speed, poise damage, range, and weight that you have more hyper armor than lighter heavy weapons, but light enough can afford more poise than heavier heavy weapons. Enough poise damage to break a greatsword user in a single hit, but fast enough that you can trade two blows for one against great hammers, great axes, and ultra great swords. It's in a sweet spot, and I feel confident in saying that this is hands down the best poise weapon.

                        This badly needs a hyper armor nerf. Easily has more than any other CGS, even Exile. An invader used this and tanked through my UGH swings using only R1 and fairly light armor.

                          One of the best invasion weapons. Stack 40 poise and 40 endurance with this thing, 2 hand it and just go to town on people. Gankers think they are invincible in groups, so they tend to simply mash R1 when they get near you. Just mash R1 right back, poise through everything and presto, phantoms are dead. You can almost hear their cries of disbelief: "B-b-but I pressed R1... I don't understand..."

No. The way you use this is to spam the WA when they get close as you'll FOR SURE hyperarmor through their attack and get the true combo. Then you throw out a few r1s as they'll be more passive since they lost hp. I had mentioned that the hyperarmor frames last into the next r1, do you even know what that means? It means you can't play passive punisher, you know, literally HOW you use SS's? If you play this way you literally shut everything down. It isn't just trading, that WA is instant, it is the real terror here. What can a SS even do if you are using the WA right? I love how you tards all act like you don't know this. Lets not play stupid to justify an ez mode that you guys like to use.

                              For me is also one of the best pve weapon, one of the best Dark/Chaos weapon ever and lesser heavy than exile with almost the same damage, howewer exile is a better physical weapon and scales with hollow a lot with a better weapon art

                                I'm sure i'll get on-reflex dislikes from saying this, but: "OP af". The WA is instant, the reach is SO long, the damage is about the same as the exile greatsword (maybe more) and the speed of the swings is pretty quick too (is it faster than your average curved greatsword?). This is the latest ez mode weapon, it works everywhere and all you have to do is spam the true combo to win. This destroys ganks, you can't trade because it has great hyperarmor and damage and if you try to use a fast weapon it tends to have hyperarmor left at the end of the swing to continue into another r1 or use the WA. This is actually OP.

                                  This thing looks like it's covered in*****. But besides the aesthetics, it is hella powerful. I am relatively convinced that this weapon beats the Murakumo for range, though if not they are at least tied. But besides that, S scaling in strength is beastly and allows it to hit like a truck. Also has good hyper armor, allowing you to trade through multiple straight sword and great sword hits. Also, if you delay a 3rd r1 after the r1x2 combo, it easily roll catches. Perhaps my favorite invasion weapon due to it's good damage, hyper armor, and not too bad swing speed (though make no mistake, it's slow). Like all Strength scaling weapons, prime candidate for darkmoon blade. Easily 3 hits for over 1,400 damage with 40/40 strength/faith.

                                    with nearly as much range as the murakumo, and damage that rivals... everything, and a weapon art that can combo up to 1300 damage on a 25/25/30/30, why use anything else? Sure its parryable, but if it wasnt you may as well have a curse hack on with this thing. lol

                                      My HCGS deals 782 AR dark infused and that’s why it’s the most viable infusion 4 this weapon highly recommended in pvp

                                        I know the exile is supposed to do more damage, but considering this weapons weapon art is far superior, range is superior, and I think the scaling is actually much better as well, the damage difference is so minor that you will probably feel like your doing more with this anyway.
