Pyromancy discovered by grave wardens after High Lord Wolnir fell to the Abyss.
Hurls a black fireball.
The black flame inflicts dark damage, striking targets with weighty force.
Acquired From
- Bought from: Karla for 10,000 souls after you retrieve the Grave Warden Pyromancy Tome.
Notes
- Deals (spell buff x 2.4) damage on a direct hit and (spell buff x 2.2) damage with the blast.
- The projectile is fairly slow with a very wide arc that can cover some distance if aimed properly.
- This spell deals dark damage, not fire. It is a very good spell for damaging enemies weak to Dark.
- In all other ways, it is simply a stronger version of Fire Orb.

More versatile than CBV. Lower stamina and FP cost makes it more spamable, and if you offhand the Saint witch bellvine for max cast speed and equip the dark clutch ring, the dps is comparable to CBV with fire clutch ring (better, if your endurance is low enough, since you need a fair amount of stamina to cast 2 CBVs back to back). Factor in that this has better range, and I think this has more overall utility in PVe than CBV. Unless CBV can oneshot or your enemy resists dark, this is usually better.

For those who don't like cbv but still wanna melt things pretty fast

Best dark spell at low stats (30/30). At higher levels Great Soul Dregs + Izaleth staff significantly outdamages this.

this thing guard-breaks king of storms for a riposte in three hits if you find a window to fire them fast enough, but is very easy to do it in 4-5 casts anyways. This spell is a beast aganist bosses who guard-break

Stronger then great chaos fire orb because it can say the N word

This thing absolutely shreds anything without innate dark resistances. I beat the Dancer on my first try with 34/34 INT/FTH and a +7 pyromancy flame, just spamming it and keeping my distance. I did not deserve that win.
Once while using my pure pyro build (40/40 int/fth, pyro glove +10, great swamp ring, witch ring, and dark clutch ring) I threw one of these at Lorian, and I thought I had missed. It did around 10 damage. I then switched to fire clutch and vestiged them to death.

the cinders mod adds a spell that casts these with the casting speed of farron dart and it's the most broken sh*t i've ever seen

Does around 700 damage to enemies with average dark resistance at 40/40 and great swamp + witch ring. You can pump it up to around 1000 with dark clutch and blindfold ring and even further with sacred oath and power within

Pair with black flame and black Serpent for extra fun, you have this to put pressure, black flame if they get to close and you can summon a black serpent and hit them with this while they try to escape, assuming they dont get hit by that monster

We not gonna talk about the shield break and heavy knock back?

kinda sad they didn't add a black flame catalyst to support the black pyromancies, I mean hell even miracles get ones that scale better with the hexes

Kinda wish it was just Fire Orb but dealing different damage type. Don't want throwing weird black balls at enemy, but normal Fire Orb is kinda weak and Great Chaos Fire Orb takes damn two slots and costs*****load of FP

Morion Blade, 20%
Red Tearstone, 20%
Witch ring, 20%
Swamp ring, 12%
Dark clutch, 15%
Blindfold mask, 5%
60/60 int faith.
133% increased damage on this spell... just how much damage would that be? Beware of one shot pyro

i still think it's a little broken that pyromancers get fire and dark damage, both scale with int and faith, and they use the same catalyst. meanwhile sorcerers only get magic and if they want to use dark effectively they need a different staff and for max damage they have to put points in faith... cmon man...
I know the Pyro flame only scales to 40/40 Faith /Int, but what about the spell itself, can the spells have there own scaling in addition?

Surprised almost no one uses this thing. It deals same damage of great chaos fireball, minus lava, it's pure dark and has great guardbreaking ability. Overall pretty good.

Its real value is its single slot and dark aspect, giving you an additional way to take out fire resistant enemies. Fire orb is still more FP efficient, so use that instead when burst damage isn't required and the enemy isn't resistant to fire.
It also has the innate guard breaking properties, giving it another utility use. Overall, a Fire Orb + Black Fire Orb is 2 slots of versatile damage and efficient FP spells which will give you more mileage than chaos fire orb and chaos bed vestiges (Though those spells have other unique uses warranting their slots) but in terms of raw ranged damage, strongly consider this pyromancy

This spell with 30/30 int/faith nuked the dancer so hard she never even summoned her second sword it felt like i was fighting yhrom

wouldn't it be cool if you could buff weapons with dark pyromancy

Does More Damage than Fire Orb and costs more FP! It's not the same ...

Key for pyros until getting Great Soul Dregs. And desperately needed in DS1.
