Pyromancy of old restored by Cornyx. One of the Great Swamp's more advanced spells.
Hurls an exploding fireball.
A rare technique that undergoes change after leaving the caster's hand, making this a spell renowned for its difficulty.
Acquired From
- Bought from: Cornyx of the Great Swamp for 5,000 souls
Notes
- Deals (spell buff x 0.71) damage with a limit of 4 hits per cast.
- Launches a fireball that almost immediately splits into several smaller fireballs. This shotgun effect can hit several enemies and is more likely to hit faster foes.
- This pyromancy is more cost-efficient compared to other single-shot spells if at least three of the fireballs hit. This can be especially useful against dense crowds or big threats.
- in general, this pyromancy is powerful at mid to short range, and very cost effective if used right. However, it has generally low damage.

Some tests I've been doing on a pure pyromancy caster character.
Gear: Fire clutch ring, Great Swamp ring, Pyromancy Flame +7. 30 Int, 30 Fth.
Tested on the Elder Ghrus in Farron Keep, at close range of course.
Bursting Fireball: 456 damage
Fire Orb: 484 damage
(Again, both at close range but not at point blank, just to give some time for the principal fireball of Bursting fireball to actually explode).
Sorry to say that this spell sucks compared to Fire Orb. You get less damage (even if you hit every proyectile), wider bullet expansion (because who doesn't want his damage split in 12 individual proyectiles and get almost everyone of them miss the oponent), and the ocasions were you are gonna need group control can be counted with one hand, it's easier to just backup a little bit and start throwing Fire orbs (or whatever else but this).
And the cherry on the top of the cake, this thing cost 5000 souls, while Fire Orb cost 3000 (which isn't cheap for the early game)

one of the best early game pryomancies it's effective range is fairly short but it has the uncanny ability to break shields if 2-3 of the projectiles hit making it great for following up at a slightly safer range than great combust. It also can punish estus abusers fairly easily as the scattergun nature of the pyromancy usually can land 1-2 hits on panic rolling invaders or hosts.
Not the best pyromancy out there, especially when chaos pyromancy comes into the picture, but fp cost per cast it's a solid backup.
Anything in PVE with a big hitbox or annoying enemies that like to jump a lot will get smammered with this bad boy. One of my favorite pyromancies.

Not a great main pyromancy but an excellent second hand pyromancy for both PvE and PvP. In PvP, even in duels it is an excellent finishing off spell due to the idea of when your enemy getting extremely roll spammy and aggressive which leads to much roll catching. And in PvE it is excellent for a close range shotgun burst, just get close and KABLOOEE!!!

This was quite effective against the Gravetender Greatwolf. The large hitbox catches most of the projectiles and does some good damage. It is also easier to hit than other spells because he sometimes tends to jump around like a hamster on speed when i try to throw a normal fireball.

Work like fire-cracker in Sekiro. Deal damage? No. Annoy opponents? Very Yes!

This and fire surge used together chip the health of panic rolling enemies

Always catches people that like to run sideways to avoid your spells.

It's a spell that can actually sometimes hit enemies in PvP. Therefore this is the best spell for pvp in the game.

Under rated spell for pvp, duels and invasions. Same cast speed as CBV with a massively lower fp and stamina consumption. Can be a true combo following up black serpent at the correct range and brilliant for staggered casts with floating chaos. Seen a guy named darkmatterii using it like this. Inspiring

If all the hits land with it, the damage is relatively higher than fire orb. It can also pierce through multiple enemies. Making this spell the most efficient fp spell in the game.

Not really good for 1v1 duels, but pretty good spammable spell for invasions or ganks. Can get a lot of cheeky hits which build up over time, and pretty great for hitting people who run away.

Great for resetting proc on frostbite. Damage doesn't matter when using it for that purpose, just the ability to hit the target and this is easier and quicker than a firebomb.

it's awesome against quick enemies(pvp) as it can keep the distance and stagger them, or alow you tog in for a quick swipe and then back out, it doesn't deal a lot of damage, though it is also good for hitting stuff like greatwood's weak points, the ones that are higher, hitting with half the fire balls takes 3-4 hits to destroy the one on the back in ng+ iirc.

If a pyromancy flame was a shotgun, this would be it's buckshot.

This pyro is a must for me at all times now. It might not do a ***** ton of damage but like most weapons in Souls it's not all about damage. This spell can get you out of those close fights. Plus it lets most invaders/gankers know you have every inch of the field covered which wins the match before it starts most times.

This can work in pvp too since it's casting speed with sage ring is quick enough, damage is usable and accurate for viability. Mainly to finish someone off or doing burst damage when they retreat. Best used in midrange, it doesn't do mush damage in close range and it loses effectiveness at longer distances.

That buff this thing got awhile back has made it into a workable spell. It's a decent alternative to fire orb... has faster casting and the AoE spread can be useful for enemy groups or catching mobile targets, but it has shorter range, poor manual aiming, and is a bit harder to use in a consistent fashion. It just gets a bit tough to fit in your spell slots when things like GCFO take up two of them.

I tested this spell against other pyro spells after the recent patch against silver knights in Anor Londo. My stats are 40/40 with both pyro rings, fire clutch, and a +10 flame.Bursting fireball: 452Fire Orb: 428Chaos fireorb: 672, 298 from lavaChaos Bed Vestiges: 782I noticed that with bursting fireball spray it seems that getting point-blank doesn't increase damage, instead the damage maxes out from about 5 feet away (about the average length of a GS swing).

Another trash spell. Extremely low damage, they seem to have actually balanced the spell around the belief that hitting a target with all mini-fireballs would be possible, which it basically isn't.

This spell is garbage. Try it once to realise that they shelve it forever.

As you said the damage are so low it's useless. It's a shame given the 18 int requirement.

This pyromancy is extremely weak. It does almost no damage at all.

The aoe is good, but the damage is terrible. I would not advise relying on this spell for anything but dealing with swarms of very weak enemies.

this spell is useless, it deal almost 0 dmg or i don't know how to use it ...
The reason spells like these arent so good in DS3 (and Elden Ring) is due to their multi hit nature, so every single projectile goes through defenses individually and because these games use flat defenses + absorption instead of only a % reduction they perform worse than a single projectile with the same spell buff
