Knight Slayer Tsorig is a NPC in Dark Souls 3
Knight Slayer Tsorig Information
- Killable.
- Invades you shortly after the first bonfire within the catacombs, near the bridge approaching High Lord Wolnir. Wolnir must still be alive for the invasion to occur. However, if he is still alive, he can still be killed after Wolnir is dead.
- If you kill him or he kills you, you obtain the gesture: "My thanks!" which is "War Cry" from Dark Souls 2.
Knight Slayer Tsorig Summoning
- Can be summoned for the Old Demon King boss fight, only after he has been killed as an invader (killing his NPC form will not cause the sign to appear). The sign is in a corner of the Demon Ruins bonfire room. Note that Tsorig can be summoned even after you kill him in person near the lava pond, assuming you killed his dark spirit form in the Catacombs.
Knight Slayer Tsorig Location
- Invades in the Catacombs of Carthus. The quickest way to get the invasion is to follow the skeleton boulder from the bonfire, and take the doorway just to the right of where the boulder hits the wall. Tsorig will invade upon you entering this hallway, attempting to trap you between the doorway and a wall of iron bars.
- You can find him in Smouldering Lake (as a hostile NPC, not a phantom), near the Demon Ruins/Old Kings Antechamber bonfires. He is found under the bridge over the lava pool which leads to the ballista. After the basilisk room, instead of going up the stairs to the bridge, look left instead. There's a pathway leading down to where Tsorig is waiting. If you have not gained The Knight Slayer's Ring from killing his Invader Phantom, killing his NPC will net the item along with the Fume Greatsword and Black Iron Greatshield.
Knight Slayer Tsorig Combat Information
- Health: NG (~1000), NG+ (1694), NG++ (??), NG+3 (??), NG+6 (??), NG+9 (??)
Knight Slayer Tsorig Strategy
- Tsorig can be stunlocked by most weapons with poise damage.
- In order to easily kill Tsorig's Invader form just open the gate blocking the path to the destructable bridge first. Trigger the invasion by using an Ember by the raised gate, and as soon as Tsorig starts moving towards you sprint to the bridge and damage it so it breaks once you are across it. The invader's NPC pathing will make Tsorig walk across the now destroyed bridge, causing him to fall to his death.
- The player can also wait for Tsorig's phantom to be on the bridge before breaking it, causing him to fall to his death without walking off. However, timing is required here, as Tsorig is strong enough to survive the fall from the 1/4th of the bridge closest to the Wolnir boss arena, as he will simply fall onto the platform below (although this fall will kill most players).
- Tsorig's Phantom can also be led to the area with the rolling Skeleton Boulder, where his slow moveset can cause him to easily fall victim to it multiple times, so long as the player can keep luring him into its path.
- Knight Slayer Tsorig's NPC form will attack the Black Knight on the bridge above him. Lead him up the stairs and let them fight.
- The first of the two to land the first hit will usually win, allowing you to either take on a weakened Tsorig or Black Knight.
- As he is fighting the Black Knight, the player can use Force or another move with strong knockback to push him into the lava.
- He will blindly chase you into the lava. If low enough on health, he will likely die (even if you die, as he will always use his gesture after killing you). His items will then appear on the shoreline when you respawn. You MUST hit him at least once, before he dies to lava, or he will remain alive after you revive.
- The pyromancy Flash Sweat can help immensely if you decide to use this strategy, as it reduces the chance of you dying in the lava.
- Tsorig is summonable from the Demon Ruins bonfire, it is possible to bring him where he spawns as a hostile to help you kill himself (do note that he is not good at avoiding the Basilisks' curse gas, so you may wish to kill them before summoning him to avoid him dying to curse before getting to his human form). Great Swamp Cuculus can also be summoned and brought to the fight, though may have more trouble against Tsorig than phantom Tsorig.
Knight Slayer Tsorig Drops
- Souls: NG (4,000), NG+ (12000), NG++ (??), NG+3 (??), NG+6 (??), NG+9 (??)
- Weapons: Black Iron Greatshield, Fume Ultra Greatsword (when he is killed in Smouldering Lake).
- Other: Knight Slayer's Ring (drops when you first kill him, either when he invades, or in Smouldering Lake).
- After killing him in Smouldering Lake, the Black Iron Set can be obtained via the Shrine Handmaid.
Knight Slayer Tsorig Dialogue
- None. He does not speak.
Knight Slayer Tsorig Trivia
- He is visually similar to Black Iron Tarkus, from Dark Souls 1, wearing the same armor, however unlike Tarkus he uses the Fume Ultra Greatsword, an item obtainable in Dark Souls 2, via the Crown of the Old Iron King DLC. Likewise, his ring is visually and functionally identical to the Ivory Warrior Ring obtainable in the frozen city of Eleum Loyce in the Dark Souls 2 Crown of The Ivory King DLC, which is likely the city referred to in its description. His posession of the Fume Ultra Greatsword means that The Fume Knight may be among the knights he has slain. Tsorig is the only Dark Souls character to use equipment from multiple DLC's.
- The fact that Tsorig attacks near areas designed for it to be easy for him or the player to fall to their death, both as an Invader on the destructable bridge, and by knocking his NPC form off the stone bridge into the lava, is highly reminiscent of the fate of Black Iron Tarkus in Dark Souls 1, who is capable of knocking The Iron Golem boss off the top of Sens Fortress, yet whose armor can later be retrieved from the corpse of a man, presumably Tarkus, that himself fell to his death from the narrow rafters in Anor Londo.
- Despite possessing equipment from both The Crown of The Old Iron King and The Crown of The Ivory King DLC's, Tsorig does not possess any equipment or lore tied to the third Dark Souls II DLC, Crown of the Sunken King.

Both him and the black knight's pathing is a little wonky on the bridge. You can trick both of them into falling into the lava by baiting them to lunge across the corner on either side.
- Anonymous
Easy strat to cheese him: lure him to the basilisk area and attack with bow/crossbow when he backs up because his aggro range is up to there. Works fine for me without taking any hit.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
In the Demon Ruins, he chased me up onto the bridge and the knight on the far side of the bridge aggro'd and started attacking him and knocked him into the lava.
- Anonymous
If you have some kind of faith stat try using force or wrath to push him into the lava, killed him very easily that way
- Anonymous
On a new playthrough I embered at the gate with the metal bars, near the collapsing bridge, and he never showed up.
The boss was alive and well, I only opened the boss door before the skull-cup.
I had already talked to Anri twice in the catacombs and I had gone down the collapsing bridge.
- Anonymous
Knight slayer? More like try harder. How did this clown get his hands on Fume Knight’s sword?
Don’t worry Raime, I’ll gladly avenge you twice.
- Anonymous
At 32 Strength, w/ a +2 Vordt’s Great Hammer, flattened him w/ a fully charged 2-handed R2, then a follow up R1 sent the frostbitten tryhard to the promised land.
- Anonymous
How the **** can he kill fume knight but not a nude guy with a broken sword
- Anonymous
i may be wrong but i think its implied tsorig killed tarkus to take his weapon shield and armor

You can actually summon him before killing him. Like in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWe5FvVwk88
- Anonymous
He reminds me of Kirk from DS1, he also invaded you in Demon Ruins, Depths, Lost Izalith
- Anonymous
Tsorig's title as Knight Slayer is probably a reference to the inordinate amount of knight or knight-esque enemies and bosses you fight over the course of Dark Souls 2. Pretty fitting given his weapon, armor, and the ring he drops.
- Anonymous
I beat the boss then he appeared in the lower areas by the black knight and lava. Super easy to kill him with the lava
- Anonymous
I made him and the black knight 1v1, black knight pushed tsorig off and then jumped off himself. lol
- Anonymous
If you have trouble with this guy, just throw a few alluring skulls into the lava and he will kill himself for you.
- Anonymous
I dealt with him rolling away from his attacks (especially his special, which will 1hit you) then pancaked him repeatedly with Great Club
- Anonymous
My favorite approach to dueling this guy is to use the Great Machete, back-rolling his attack, then slapping him with the reach and stagger. Out-heavy the heavy!

- Anonymous
First encounter I took two hits from him and died. So I think to myself, this could be a very interesting fight.
After many attempts dying to him and principally to the creatures along the way, i just lured him to the black knight and watched the massacre from the ladder.
The place to fight him really could be better.

I just don't understand the correlation with why killing Wolnir doesn't let his Dark Spirit invade anymore. I ran through without an Ember and didn't get invaded, and now I'm way way after, I went back after killing the NPC version, only to find out he's not showing up where he's supposed to invade too :P
Also guys don't block his attacks, his ring literally makes you take 20% bonus stamina damage so of course he's designed to kill shield hiders
I used flash sweat to get the pyromancy behind him in Demon Ruins and he chased me into the lava, almost died, and then got one shot. I wasn't planning on fighting him but if you guys really are struggling that bad use your environment
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
he is the guy that ruined the game for me... put like 12 hours into fighting him... i'm done with this ****
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
He gets caught on the wall in smoldering lake if you agro him. A perfect use of Story Teller's staff WA.
- Anonymous
This guy is unbeatable. No npc should take 2 thirds of your health per hit. This is retarded
Tsorig:
- Uses FUGS, the best FUGS in the game
- Cosplays Tarkus, the best summon NPC in the entire series
- Has badass lore; gank-spanked an entire city
- Will fight you honourably without chugging, unlike SOME invaders
- Shows his gratitude and respect for your souls/tongue if you die to him
- Can literally help you kill himself if you need the assistance
Be like Tsorig.
- Anonymous
if you're encountering Knight Slayer Ur these days on pc than that's me.
If I helped you I'm glad, if I killed your gank I'm not sorry.

he can be parried, crest shield parry when he's 1-handing his weapon back off when hes 2-handing, can press the parry button almost the moment u register his arm movement to swing, i suck at parrying but this worked out really well for me
- Anonymous
A funny thing happened when this huy invaded me, i casted tears of denial and proceeded to fight him. Now we both were at low hp,he broke my poise and almost killed me but i got saved by ToD, he thought he killed me and used his gesture but got backstabbed and koed by me instead
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
if the 4th Loyce knight survives the ivory king fight it stays next to the entrance so tsorig probably killed that guy to get the ring I have no dam clue where he got the fume sword and tarkus's gear tho
- Anonymous
If you summon Tsorig to fight Tsorig while using Tsorig's gear and summon two phantoms and two invaders with Tsorig's gear you will make a Tsorig fight club.
Cast ToD and let him "kill" you so he will use his gesture, letting u land a charged hit
- Anonymous
This guy is pure strength no intelligence build.i summoned him to make him fight horrace in ng+ and he got stuckin the cave walking towards a wall and couldn't even properly follow me
- Anonymous
Thankfully, the Fume Greatsword can be acquired by killing the real one in the Demon Ruins. I thought his sword was permanently lost to me because I'd already killed both Wolnir and the Old Demon King.
- Anonymous
Can you parry his attacks? Tried a few times to no success, eventually killed him by baiting near the skelly-ball
- Anonymous
"Wolnir must still be alive for the invasion to occur. However, if he is still alive, he can still be killed after Wolnir is dead."
This is a bit confusing. Can he still invade if Wolnir is dead or not?
- Anonymous
every time he does the my thanks gesture i just think hes violently screaming
- Anonymous
Just tested by killing with just storyteller staff, his human form in Smouldering Lake has 1139 hp.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
You can actually summon Phantom Tsorig to help you fight NPC Tsorig. It blows my mind how funny the situation is.
Just summon him near the entrance to Old Demon King and lead him all the way to NPC Tsorig.
- Anonymous
Throw alluring skulls into the lava pit and watch him burn. . . .
If you have the quick roll (equip under 30%) and a fast weapon with decent reach, he's pretty easy. Just stay out of range, let him do his slow attacks and punish.
- Anonymous
This man has great strength, and he will flex it after he kills you.
- Anonymous
I toughed it out and fought him without cheesing, and I got him on the first try. I used a dragon crest shield and a +5executioner sword. I had my shield up and when he went to swing I rolled into his attack then backstabbed him twice, and was done after that. I guess this is what you f*** boys call gitting gud.
- Anonymous
Ah Tsorig, slayer of knights, plunderer of gear, hero of the ages, tough battle-hardened opponent............
Fooled by a spooky skull thrown into some lava by a skinny dude in a loincloth.
- Anonymous
Took me few tries but i killed him sraight up near lava field. dude hits hard thats for sure..dodging is the key here, since blocking is pretty useless. still got a shield ready for ocassional block. he ain't that hard since he can be stunlocked and lets you breathe to heal
If u have no honor for this dude just force spell his bottom to the lava and watch him go
- Anonymous
I want to ask if this guy got patched or what? I’m sure I’ll get it sooner or later, but thing is I’m replaying on the ps4 coming from pc and there’s one heck of a difference in my experience. The knight luring trick worked easily after a few tries my first time through - ah, how fondly I remember falling off that bridge into lava with him one hit away. Good times. Problem is I can’t even get close this play through. As in: I’m nowhere near his sword’*****box and he one shots me - like a little less than half the bridge away; he’s frequently one shotted the black knight - or straight up just owns him despite whoever gets the first hit; or one shots me as i round the corner by the stairs just past the basilisks (my bad?) - but shouldn’t he on respawn be down the hall by the lava and the stairs there? It was just after running past the basilisks hadn’t even gone up to trigger the knight. Been a few weird things like that lately with things outta place waiting to kill and cost me whatever souls I’ve had. So, Is this guy harder on the ps4 version or what?
Not a single one of you actually has any tips on fighting him straight up? Like not a single standup fighter has any advice?
- Anonymous
Okay, one thing I discovered. He won't invade me because I pulled the lever which lifts the iron bar and now he won't invade me even if I reload the map. I've only went to Smouldering Lake but I only went there for Horace and I never met this guy as an NPC.
- Anonymous
Did he actually kill Tarkus and Raime to get the gear he is using or did he just find Tarkus's corpse in Anor Londo?
- Anonymous
Ugh, I wish I had looked at this earlier, I JUST got done beating Wolnir and found out that I need the leggings for my build -_-
- Anonymous
i always get the black knight upstairs to come down and kick his a*s, black knight wins 68% of the time with a cheese slice of health left, so i can back stab him, and boom, not even a scratch on my character
- Anonymous
This guy is an insult to Tarkus's legacy. At least it's not a solaire case where I have to feel bad killing him to get the armor.
- Anonymous
If you use Tears of Denial and proc it against this dude he’ll act like you died and emote for the full duration. Plenty of time for a backstab.
- Anonymous
I just got invaded by this guy and let the skeleton ball deal with him, running him up and down the stairs so that the ball hit him twice on each run. I feel like I owe that ball a drink.
- Anonymous
Phantom is the exact same as the one In person. I brought a full hp phantom Tsorig to other Tsorig, they were doing the exact same thing for about 75% of their hp. Then I helped my phantom because I was scared of Tsorig killing my Tsorig.
- Anonymous
If you have a problem with this guy: Try luring him onto the bridge and then simply use Force (miracle and not the midichlorian SW bullcrap) to make him fall into lava.
- Anonymous
Heads up for those who try summoning this idiot for the Old Demon King boss fight - there's a chance he'll get stuck clipping through the bottom of the stone staircase outside the boss room, and be unable to enter the fight. Thanks for nothing, Tsorig!
- Anonymous
Look at this fool, a dung covered peasant in a tin can wielding a oversized menstrual pad. lmao *points down* get rekt, corn fed simpleton.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
i got invaded by this guy and ran across the bridge and broke it. i guess hes blind because he just walked right into the pit as if the bridge was still there. lol
- Anonymous
I just lured the black knight off of the bridge on the corner close to Tsorig. I went to collect the loot on the other side of the bridge, and then went to see if I could observe the tail end of the fight before I went to turn off the ballista. For some bizarre reason the two of them had run straight out into the lava. I didn't get to observe a fight, I got to observe Tsorig take two steps, die, and "My thanks!" popping up on my screen. My thanks!
- Anonymous
Just something I found out, if he kills you while you have tears of denial miracle active he emotes as if you had died. Allowed me to stun lock the second half of his hp bar with no counter.
- Anonymous
wait, there is a gate when he invades!? i've almost completed the game twice, and didn't know
- Anonymous
What would happen if I brought the phantom Tsorig with me to where his actual NPC self is? Will he be there or just gone?
- Anonymous
I wish you could command NPC phantoms to " stay put" whenever I take him to the basalisk room to fight himself, they crush him in seconds. I'm probably just stupid and doing it wrong, but that's just a gripe I have. Tsorig wasn't too hard to solo even with mid rolling.
- Anonymous
To those who say tsorigs phantom isn’t enough and those who say the black knight isn’t enough, you’re both stupid. Just defeat tsorig as an invader by running to the bridge and breaking it just before he steps on, then you can use his phantom to fight him, if ot doesn’t finish him lure him to the black knight and as fast as you can get up the ladder the knight is guarding and that should do it.
- Anonymous
actual so *****ing cheap, he has a greatsword that he swings like a dagger and he always hides behind his damn shield too, when i finally got him to low health i tried to go for a backstab and he somehow *****ing riposted me and insta-killed such a *****ing cop-out
- Anonymous
If you want to make a Tsorig build, you need at least 46 Vitality, Havel's Ring +3, Ring of Favor +3, and Prisoner's Chain. Fourth ring is up to you, I prefer to use K***ht Slayer's ring to be true to cosplay. This will get you *juuuust* enough weight load to mid roll. You can then get your Vigor up to 22 (enough to get 27 vigor and 1k hp with the rings you're wearing), 35 Endurance (to get up to 40 end and max stamina with the rings) and 63 strength at lvl 120. Not quite at str hardcap, but close. Definitely worth it, it's a fun build and scary as hell to other players - especially pyromancers whose pitiful flames can't touch you in the Black Iron set. I wouldn't go lower than lvl 110 with this build, however - It would be difficult, as you can't really compromise Endurance because of how much stamina the sword takes to use, you definitely can't compromise Vitality unless you LIKE fat-rolling, and if you compromise Vigor, you're going to be a glass cannon, which makes the armor/shield worthless. I hope this helps somebody.
- Anonymous
If you get him low, then allow yourself to be hit until Tears of Denial triggers, the game will think your dead and he will emote. If hes low 1 backstab and maybe some classic R1 spam should finish the job!
- Anonymous
A really easy way to kill him in his location near the lava is to throw alluring skulls into the lava. He will chase them like an idiot and you'll not only have a good laugh but an easy win.
- Anonymous
he fall from the bridge above after bringing him to fight the dark knight. can't get the item. If I reload the area, will his item be gone??
- Anonymous
i summoned tsorig and took him to the hostile npc tsorig to fight, i wasnt dissapointed
I like to fight NPCs like I would real duels with real people. Not backstab fishing.
- Anonymous
I lead him to fight a black knight. He's not a knight slayer. He got his crotch nailed with the black knight great sword weapon art. The fight was over after that
- Anonymous
Tsorig is actually so easy to kill. He’s slow enough that you can pretty much backstab whenever you want, or just kick his shield in when he’s blocking. That and a good dagger make it an ez fight
- Anonymous
Outside of the large corridor, just right after the basilisks he gets semi stuck some times. Right exactly where the stairs to the black knight are...So, you can fight him there too if you have trouble... Or you can use the black knight upstairs. It is RNG who kills who.. most of the times i witnessed it happen they kind of both killed each other. Also he doesn't use estus so be patient, go for one hit and then back away from him. You can take all the time you need...At some points he takes away his shield and two hands his sword that is the best time to throw spells and bombs at him.. He one shots low lvl players and squishy builds so be careful.
- Anonymous
he is purpusly made to be a joke. Heavy armor, heavy weapon and shield. That's a new Dark Souls player not knowing what they are doing. Cheesing him with a boulder or letting him bath in lava is no coincident aswell. FROM is basically telling us "Yes, we know you. Time to gulp your own medicine".
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
If Tsorig starts two handing, you better hope to God that he does the weapon art. The weapon art has bad tracking, so you can just circle and get a backstab
- Anonymous
If you summon him to fight himself, after winning the phantom acts upset and refuses to face you or follow you out of the area unless you engage the black knight in combat
Thanks for sharing Good scene
- Anonymous
He does the gesture when tears of denial triggers, allowing an easy backstab.
- Anonymous
I was invaded by a player in the area Tsorig invades, with the same name. I thought that was Tsorig as I had never seen him before. I continued on and fought the boss. Is Anri of Astora's quest ruined now?
- Anonymous
Best way to kill him is to fake him and make him swing twice it's easy not like have lol psn.... auston_powers ......oh behave
- Anonymous
When being invaded by Tsorig, you can cheese him by having him repeatedly crushed by the skeleton ball.
- Anonymous
I made him fight the black Knight, he killed it in two shot then one shot me... should i get more Health ? xD
- Anonymous
I kept him and the swamp person alive in the demon king battle and they both walked into the posion. I know doing that I can go and get the cornyx armor yet does that mean anything new from him?
- Anonymous
Had him fight the Greataxe Black Knight. The knight literally launched him into the lava, and went in after him. Both dead, not a single R1 was pressed.
Killed this guy by shoving him into the lava with Astora Greatsword's charge attack. A most satisfying thrust.
He is probably more mad than hodrick himself, the ceo of mad people. I mean, he does a friendly gesture after killing you, becomes friendly after you defeat him, and tries to kill you yet again, and he can even be summoned as a phantom after you've killed him for good. And the best part is that you can bring phantom Tsorig to real Tsorig himself, and they will fight themselves to death without hesitation.
