Build Strategy
Start with the ''Warrior''-Class and take the Life Ring as burial gift.
Get through the first area and then travel to High Wall of Lothric. There you farm the Lothric Knight Set, the Lothric Knight shield and the Knight's crossbow. At beginning you should skill Vitality to 20 points to be able to wear the whole Lothric Knight Set.
After that you should skill some Strength to scale well with the Broadsword and to take on the Lothric Shield. Before you can use the Broadsword effectly in one hand you should skill one point on Dexterity, so you get 10 points there, enough to use the Broadsword.
At the High Wall of Lothric you will get some Titanite shards which you should use to upgrade your Broadsword in the Firelink-Shrine. Now you should skill some Points on Vigor to get a healthy looking HP-bar. After the High Wall of Lothric you have a great armor, a 100 percent blocking shield and a strong sword. Further you got a long-range weapon, the Knigh's crossbow, which is stronger than the light crossbow. With this gear you can play easily the first half of the game.

Little true guide for begginers :
-Take the broadsword (Or any straight sword you like) first
-Use whatever shield who have 100 physical aborption
-Infuse sword with raw
-Upgrade it as much as possible
-Level up your vitality and endurance first (Around 27 looks nice)
Equip whatever you want for armor, as long as you stay under 70%
Congratulations, instead of wasting early points like a lot of people in offensive stats (str/dex/etc) you have hp, and around the same damage because of the raw infusion
Focus on offensive stats only after leveling up your hp

A lothric knight that doesn't use the lothric knight weapons. Cool.

If you have a Vitality of 20 you cannot wear the full armor and a shield. You also cannot have the full armor and the crossbow. Just the armor and broadsword.

Also, 20 VIT doesnt let you wear all items you mentioned. yes you can wear armor set, but you cant equip the shield and crossbow. you need to get more VIT or get rings

Great starter guide, but take the long sword instead of the broadsword, the move set is vastly superior

Isn't there a Lothric knight sword? or spear we can use though?
Split-damage will always be overall weaker than pure damage if it is not hitting targets weak to a particular damage type. As far as I can tell with Lightning damage, no enemies are really weak to it, not even armored foes or dragons... not anymore.
But why isn't it using the Lothric Knight Sword? Seems like if you're gonna do a build/cosplay, it only seems true to stick to the entire set.
